Solution Labs Announces Performance Surveyor Acquired by TeamQuest Corporation

Solution Labs Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Performance Surveyor by TeamQuest, the US-based, industry-leading Capacity Management company.  TeamQuest has acquired Performance Surveyor, the Solution Labs Performance Surveyor customers, and key Solution Labs personnel in the transaction.

Solution Labs is pleased to announce that the GA Surveyor v2.0 release is now ready for download.

The v2.0 release is a monumental step forward in our goal of Automating Resource Planning Intelligence and it provides a foundation for many exciting enhancements that will be delivered over the new two releases.

The primary deliverable of Surveyor v2.0 is a graphical administration interface that greatly simplifies all aspects of managing and customizing your Performance Surveyor implementation. There are also countless enhancements to the underlying data processing functions that will further assist you in your efforts to automate and scale your reporting deliverables.

Although we had hoped to have the release out sooner, the extra time in the field helped us to refine the usability, add video tutorials (available through the help menu or the admin interface) and, of course, fix some obscure bugs. Thank you to everyone involved in the Beta release, in particular our European reseller BSM Iberia who were instrumental in helping us put the product through its paces in real customer scenarios.

Not ones to rest on our laurels we’ve been hard at work on Surveyor v2.5 these past three months and it is shaping up to be an equally exciting release – some of which is highlighted in the v2.0 video tutorials. We continue to add new developers to our staff and are pleased to see our effectiveness multiplied – something we’re confident you’ll see first hand in the next two releases of the product as our vision continues to unfold. 

The current GA release is available from our support website at: www.solution-labs.com/support, using your standard Customer Login information.

As always we look forward to your feedback on the release as well as your input on where we should be heading with the product.

May 13, 2008 – Solution Labs announces Performance Surveyor v2.0 Beta.

Solution Labs are pleased to announce that the Performance Surveyor v2.0 BETA is now available for download from the Solution Labs support site. Surveyor v2.0 is a significant deliverable and a key component of our emerging Resource Planning Intelligence strategy. The v2.0 release provides a very rich and dynamic web-based administrative interface that greatly simplifies report creation and will help customers to more fully leverage the underlying power of the Surveyor data processing engine. This new release includes many enhancements including;

• Remote administration of all Surveyor resources.
• Drag-and-drop view creation.
• In-line function documentation and context sensitive property help.
• A dynamic Preview window for evaluating changes to report definitions.
• Integrated WYSIWIG report templates.
• One click enable / disable of views and categories
• Completely native handling of groups (eliminating the latency of Perceive groups)
• Graphical creation of dynamic groups
• Support for Hierarchical Groups (groups within groups)
• Dynamic Group builders
• GUI support for dynamic interval management
• Preliminary role-based access (Admin vs Analyst)
• Integrated backup and restore of system configuration.

All of this plus a wide range of new and enhanced data processing functions make Surveyor v2.0 the most powerful and easy to use version yet. March 4, 2008 – Solution Labs Hosts Performance Surveyor Virtual Users Group

Solution Labs is pleased to announce the successful completion of its inaugural Performance Surveyor worldwide virtual users group. Attended by over 50 customers and evaluators, representing 30 companies across 5 countries, this introductory event was a highly valuable and interactive session across the Performance Surveyor user Community. Topics included: a live demonstration and sneak preview of the exciting Performance Surveyor v2.0 release, discussions on BMC Developer Connection and Developer Network communities, and topics for the next Virtual User Group meeting.

January 17, 2008 – Announcing Performance Surveyor v1.2.1

Solution Labs is pleased to announce the General Availability of Performance Surveyor v1.2.1. In addition to fixing a number of errors, the v1.2.1 patch release adds the following new features:

Improved System Discovery – quality and completeness of system property discovery is significantly enhanced, and the time needed to conduct the discovery has been reduced by nearly two-thirds.

• Dynamic Group Refresh – there is now a separate refresh button for Groups that updates both Static (Perceive) groups and Dynamic Groups (as defined in user.properties). You can now change group imports with significantly less disruption.
• Dynamic User Properties – you can now reload changes to user.properties file without re-starting Performance Surveyor. Users can now add new view files, create Dynamic Groups, Enumerations, Summary Tags and filter interval definitions (among others) without disrupting active users of the system.
• Initialization at Startup – Performance Surveyor now automatically and fully initializes as soon as the service is started, instead of awaiting the first user access. This significantly speeds startup after a re-start.
• Static Property Display – a new metric /common/Config/Properties (“Confg – Properties” from the metric selection list) has been added that provides direct access to static properties while bypassing the data retrieval process. The result is that property only data requests are now potentially thousands of times faster than in v1.2, particularly across large numbers of systems using the get-group-data function).
• Table Format Function and Time Summarize Function are extended to support MultiSeries Array data types
